A Very Merry Christmas 2009

The first present is always the best.
The Christmas angel.
"Pappa, can't I just take one of these off the tree, only one?
Can't I just take another one off the tree, only one?"
Pippi Longstocking meets Santa Claus.
"Who the hell is that?"

We are happy to report that Swedish Family Wilkinson, although very low on family during the Christmas break, had a very cosy and relaxing Christmas. Everything went to plan, Benjamin even got a very Swedish visit from a very Swedish Father Christmas. Bless him!

Well the weather outside is frightful...

And the fire is so delightful.
Well that's how the song goes anyway. The weather is perhaps not exactly frightful, but not far from it. After one week with crazy amounts of snow and one week of heavy flutters we had a good base on our hands. Maybe 1-2 feet of nice soft snow. Not good snow for a snowball fight or making snowmen but enough to make all the Swedes happy and make even the greyest day look a little brighter. More wintery fun to come.

Santa's Greetings!

Santa's Photo Session #3

Santa's Photo Session #2

In keeping with the New Zealand christmas theme, Benji has dropped all customary Santa attire and gone for a hat & jandal ensemble! We at SFW think this could be the next big thing.
Even the best ideas don't always work the first time around!

Welcome to Estonia

Finally, after 9 months of post production, the travel giant Lonely Planet has released this quick guide to Tallinn, Estonia.

Cuddling

Benji has learnt how to cuddle. He cuddles Mum all the time and as you can see likes to lie down with his teddy and cuddle. In Swedish it's called "mysa", I guess a translation would be to cosy. Anyway several times he walks up to Mum and cuddles her by placing his head on her tummy and smiling. He hasn't cuddled Dad yet, but then looking at the state of me I'm not surprised!

A Boy and his Empire

At times he looks over his kingdom of cars with admiration and pride. However, most of the time he has no idea what they are except that some of them go brrrr

Sun up

This one looks a little mysterious. Like the opening scene of a David Lynch film. The question is...where is the other shoe?

I would also like you to notice the daylight slowly arriving in the background and then note the time. Sad.

Lidingö Loppet

Back in September there was a 30km cross country race in Stockholm. Incidentally it is the biggest cross country race in the world. I finished in 2.29 which was a huge surprise as I only decided a week before, that I would race and had done no real training for it.

If you go down to the woods today...

Been there...stole the sign!

Hi all...I just found some older photos from the summer hiding in iphoto, so i will make sure none of you miss out and post all the goodies. How about this place. It looks like a place where wee Benji might feel at home?

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

A few weeks old this, but he certainly still likes the tune!

Wanted!

Have you seen this boy?

Last seen near Stockholm. He has a distinctively cute smile and is understood to be a little rascal. Witnesses have even said he is a striking resemblance of his parents.

Pat a cake

Pat a cake, Pat a cake, baker's man
Bake me a cake as fast as you can;
Pat it and prick it and mark it with a 'B',
And put it in the oven for Baby and me.

Sent from heaven?

Well as you can see we have started with the Swedish formula calling Välling before bedtime. Benjamin loves it and sups it up and asks for more. When he's done he's a little punch drunk and ready for snooze town. The hairband halo was purely accidental but seems very Christmasy doesn't it? Maybe he's the next prophet? Maybe he is the chosen one? Maybe this is a sign? Maybe not.

1st Advent

As his hand made advent calendar arrived in the post from his talented Kiwi Grandmother, Benjamin set about carefully examining each handmade piece and then trying to hide them throughout the apartment, taking his Mum and Dad a few days to get the whole set back.
Thanks Grandma!
